Waterproofing the Sursock Museum before the rainy season
Beirut, Lebanon
The Sursock Museum is a modern and contemporary art museum that is classified as a historical building by the Directorate General of Antiquities because of its Venetian and Ottoman architecture. Located only 800 meters away from the 4 August 2020 explosion site, the Museum’s windows, including the stained glass on the façade, were blown out, and some of the building’s structural elements were destroyed. This project rehabilitated the building’s security components, as well as secured the roof, staircases, and building facades.
