Sudan's rich and vast documentary heritage is held in collections around the country, capturing cultural practices and traditions, and documenting historical movements. Through this project, over 88,000 digital images pertaining to 20,000 objects were created from the collections from multiple institutions, including the National Film Archive, one of the largest of its kind in the continent, the National Museum, the University of Khartoum in Sudan, and the National Archives in South Sudan. A scanning facility was created in Khartoum to provide support for collections digitized within the project. 170 people were trained in documentation during the project.
