Rehabilitation of the Maronite Cathedral of Saint George
Beirut, Lebanon
Built in the late 19th century, the Maronite Cathedral of Saint George was heavily shelled during the Lebanese civil war before being restored in the late 1990s. The cathedral faced new damage due to the 4 August 2020 explosion, which impacted its frescoes, stained glass windows, carpentry, and masonry. To protect the cathedral from weather exposure and potential looting, the project focused on reconstructing the stained-glass windows at the Croatian workshop, Centro Aletti.
