Rehabilitation of the Raqqa Museum
On Syrian Heritage
The museum of Raqqa held an important collection of cultural and archeological artefacts from pre-history to modern times. However, the museum suffered damage and was reportedly looted by Daesh in 2013. The rehabilitation of the museum was conducted in cooperation with the local NGO Roya. With the restoration of the museum’s building now completed, a new project will carry out restorations of part of the remaining collection so that the museum may be re-opened.
This project is supported by ALIPH with the financial assistance of the Principality of Monaco.
