Protecting cultural heritage under threat in Africa and Asia
International
Protecting and stabilizing heritage of local importance is essential for building resilient communities in fragile contexts or conflict and post-conflict situations. In this project, CER identified nine projects, including two larger rehabilitation projects, that could provide immediate and urgent first aid to cultural heritage under threat or already damaged by conflict in Asia and Africa.
The geographical scope of these projects included India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, and Cameroon. CER implemented these projects with local partners to ensure that the most pressing local needs were met, and that the organizations received the support they needed so they can independently manage and protect heritage in the future.
