In the wake of the devastating floods that struck Libya on September 10th, 2023, a preliminary damage assessment on cultural heritage was compiled to provide vital information for local authorities, stakeholders, and experts. Using satellite imagery, the report presents an analysis of the aftermath of the floods, mainly in the urban area of Derna, as well as two significant archaeological sites: Apollonia and Cyrene. In all, 15 sites were identified and examined. The document concludes that Derna experienced the greatest impact from the floods, particularly its historical centre, where most of the cultural heritage can be found.
