Archives of Knowledge: Documentary Heritage in Djenné

This project focuses on inventorying, improving storage, and undertaking preventive conservation measures for 6000 manuscripts (dating to the 16th- 20th centuries), and 25 linear meters of the colonial period archives (from the 19th-20th century). Trainings will aim to encourage local private owners to entrust their manuscripts to the Bibliothèque des Manuscrits de Djenné to store them in safe conditions, discourage their sale, and prevent the trafficking of manuscripts. This project is supported by ALIPH with the financial assistance of the Principality of Monaco.
