Stabilizing the Minaret of the Osman Mosque in Benghazi
Cyrenaica, Libya
Located in the heart of Benghazi, this Ottoman-era Osman Mosque is a venerated site, and it is one of the few historical buildings not destroyed during World War II. The minaret, which is the most prominent part of the mosque and a landmark in the city, was severely damaged by artillery shrapnel and explosives during civil unrest. This emergency project aims to stabilize the top of the minaret, preserve its original elements, and prepare the structure for its full rehabilitation.
